Crete

A group holiday to Crete let us explore a great deal of the island. Based in a hotel near the beach on the western end of the island by Chania, we rented a car an drove the east-west road a few times seeing a number of locations.

There are a larger number of caves on the island to explore.

In the far east of the island we stopped to see Lake Voulismeni, the bottomless lake.

We stopped at Knossos, an impressive set of ruins and the seat of Minoan civilization. There was also the Palace of Faistos, in the south of the island, much harder to get to as the roads outside of the main east-west backbone are basic.
