On December 21, we will be celebrating in Guatemala the beginning of a new era in accordance with the calendar of the Mayan civilization.

Guatemala, a country in Central America, is renowned for its rich cultural heritage, dramatic landscapes, and vibrant traditions. Home to a diverse population that includes 23 indigenous groups, each with its own unique languages and customs, Guatemala's cultural tapestry is both intricate and colorful. The ancient Maya civilization left a profound legacy here, with magnificent archaeological sites like Tikal and El Mirador drawing history enthusiasts from around the world. The country's geography is equally diverse, featuring lush rainforests, volcanic highlands, and picturesque lakes such as Lake Atitlán, often described as one of the most beautiful lakes in the world. Guatemala's bustling markets, like the famous Chichicastenango Market, offer a sensory feast of sights, sounds, and aromas, showcasing handmade crafts and traditional textiles. Despite its beauty and cultural richness, Guatemala also faces challenges, including political instability and social inequality, which add complexity to its national narrative.
