Welsh Stars
On holiday, camping in Wales, I decided, with limited equipment (a table was my tripod) to try and capture some of the stars, as there was no light pollution.
Norwich Festival 201
I went to Norwich for the first time in a number of years to meet up with some friends, and it was, by co-incidence, the Lord Mayors show. So we explored the town whilst this was going on.
Goodwood Festival of Speed 2015
I've managed to get tickets to this event every year for the past few years from work.
EuroGamer Expo 2014 (EGX)
I recently attended the EuroGamer Expo at Earls Court, and snapped a few photos along the way.
Macro Spider
Another chance to see how the bargain basement Flash Ring works out when I saw a large spider in its web near my flat. One thing that was very obvious is that a shallow depth of field, whilst good for some things, can be difficult when hand holding a macro lens, as the focus point moves minutely.
Ring Flash with Lego
I recently picked up a ring flash from Deal Extreme a discount Chinese website, and decided to give it a go creating some lego scenes that amused me.
Notting Hill Carnival 2014
I headed along to the Monday Notting Hill Festival, and it was pouring with rain! The general atmosphere was pretty miserable, there were very few people comparatively, and only a handful of trucks had the normal dancers and costumes.
London-Surrey Cycle 2011
Sunday the 14th of August, the test run for one of the 2012 Cycling events.
A Trip to the Moon (1901)
It has been a year since I stepped into a studio, so it was with some nervousness and excitement that I made my way to Simulacra Studios in Brixton for a shoot based on the 1901 film "A trip to the moon".
Edinburgh Fringe 2013
I attended the first few days of the Fringe, its my second year, and I spent my time moving between comedy venues and theatres, with a bit of shooting in between. I went to the national monument and shot some photos during the evenings.
Canon 5D Mark III
I have just picked up the Canon 5D Mark III to replace, (or operate in conjunction with) my 1D Mark III. I love the 1D, it is a brilliant camera, but it is about six years old now, and there are some nice improvements available in the new bodies and the 1DX is out of my price range!
Google Ingress & Photography
I've recently been playing the new Google Augmented Reality game, Ingress. It is basically a high-tech version of geo-caching. There are invisible portals everywhere, only visible on your Ingress Scanner (an android app). You chose a faction and attack enemy portals to convert them to your own. You then try and link your own portals together to for fields, getting you additional points.
The Trail of the Catwoman
I was rather looking forward to this shoot, as I am a huge comics fan, and the chance to shoot a model dressed as Catwoman was too good to pass up.
Acrobatic Art Nudes
The model was the talented Elle Black, who’d been doing this shoot for several sessions and so had a good idea of what would work and what wouldn’t. She was willing to try something different if you suggested it but would point it out if it didn’t work.
On The Edge
I found out, more or less by accident that there was a free music festival on the bank of the Thames, near to Richmond Bridge, so I thought I'd duck down to see how it was going.
