Sights & Culture

Koski Mehmed Pasha Mosque

The Koski Mehmed Pasha Mosque, located in the historic city of Mostar, is a stunning example of Ottoman architecture and an important place of worship for the local Muslim community. Built in the 17th century, this mosque boasts a beautiful interior adorned with intricate calligraphy and colourful tiles. The minaret, which can be climbed by visitors, offers breathtaking panoramic views of Mostar and the iconic Stari Most bridge.

Stari Most Mostar

Stari Most, or Old Bridge, is perhaps the most famous landmark in Mostar and a symbol of the city's resilience and unity. This magnificent stone arch, spanning the emerald waters of the Neretva River, was originally built in the 16th century by the renowned Ottoman architect Mimar Sinan. Sadly, the bridge was destroyed during the Bosnian War in 1993 but was meticulously reconstructed using traditional methods and reopened in 2004.

Today, Stari Most serves not only as a vital crossing point between the two sides of the city but also as a poignant reminder of Mostar's turbulent past and its ongoing journey towards healing and reconciliation. The bridge is also the site of the annual diving competition, where brave locals leap into the river below – a thrilling spectacle that draws crowds from far and wide. But you don’t need to wait; leapers jump from the bridge for a price, regularly.

Kriva ćuprija

Just a short walk from Stari Most, you'll find Kriva Ćuprija, or Crooked Bridge, another charming stone bridge that crosses the Radobolja River. Often overshadowed by its more famous counterpart, Kriva Ćuprija is believed to have been built as a prototype for Stari Most in the 16th century. Though smaller in scale, this quaint bridge possesses its own unique charm and character.

Museums & Galleries

Museum Of War And Genocide Victims

I didn’t have time to visit this museum, but it gets excellent reviews.

Restaurants & Bars

Restoran Kaldrma

A restaurant with a view of the smaller bridge, Kaldrma served up a lot of delicious meat for your money.

Shoppping

Mostar, as Bosnia’s tourist hub, has a lot of touristy shops on both side of the river to pick up anything you can think of.

Sports & Activities

Bridge Jumping

Taking their time to work the crowd up, men from Mostar leap from the old bridge into the water below. People will walk around, collecting money and the leaper won’t leap until they reach their target. It’s fun, but the bridge doesn’t seem that high… The man who jumps is not the man who stands on the bridge working up the crowd. If they’re not in a wetsuit, they’re not the jumper.

Leap from the Bridge

Boat Rides

From the base of the Old Bridge, you can arrange boat rides along the river to see more of Mostar.
