Annapurna Trail: Day 4

I once again got up at 5:30 to try and capture the sunrise. The air was brisk and the sky still dark as I sought out options for my shooting location.

I finally decided upon a small corner of a terrace, the view was somewhat marred by some trees but otherwise it was good.

A local of the area said hello and nicely lending me a chair, so I was able to sit in comfort whilst I shot the sunrise. Unfortunately the ongoing problem of clouds prevented capturing anything truly spectacular. During the course of my shooting, as they woke up, more of my group joined me.

I dashed in for a quick breakfast of potato rosti with cheese and egg, and when I returned the clouds had cleared somewhat on the mountains and we had a better, though now daylight, view. I took some further HDR and panoramic images whilst we had the time.

We also did a group photo of everyone before the start of the hike, I think the Tea Shop owner was a little nervous when handed my camera.

It took us about two and a half hours to trek down to the meeting point with the bus. I was the 8th person of the group to arrive, solidly in the middle, and laden down with gear, so I am quite proud of that!

Whilst going down the final stage we encountered an old woman carrying a sewing marching down the hill on her back. One of the beautiful old Singer machines.

There was also a lot of mist gathering in the foot hills, making us suspect more rain was on the way if we dawdled.

From the foot of the Annapurna trek, where we climbed to the heights of 2039m and travelling 114.22 kilometres in three and a half days, we got onto the bus. All felling somewhat unwashed and tired and went back to Pokhara to explore and eat.
