A Tog's Trek

Lyndhurst

A large village in the new forest, heavily aimed at tourists and offering various crafts, knick-knacks and speciality foods and drinks. Cafes and cosy pubs are easy to find, and numerous stores for unique (for a certain value of unique) gifts line the streets.

An ancient village first mentioned in the Doomsday book in 1086; the local folklore records Lyndhurst as the site of a dragon-slaying as well as being the site of Arthur Conan Doyle's architectural experiment (Glasshayes House) and the burial site of the girl who inspired Alice in C.S.Lewis's Alice in Wonderland.
